Compare the whole proposal, not just the price.
An independent checklist for a clearer conversation with solar providers.
Make every quote comparable
Ask for the proposed panel and inverter models, system size, total cost and the extra work included. Get assumptions about output and savings in writing so that price differences have context.
Understand responsibility
Confirm who is selling the system, who will install it and who handles future faults. Ask how you can check the installer’s accreditation and relevant electrical licence separately.
Bring the property into the conversation
Discuss roof access, shading, switchboard condition and export restrictions before agreeing to a final design. Keep a copy of the written proposal.
Use a consistent personal brief
Write down the problem you want solar to solve: daytime bills, future vehicle charging, backup needs or reducing grid imports. Give each provider the same usage information. Request an explanation whenever a proposed size differs materially from the alternatives.
